Union College goaltender Troy Grosenick - Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE
Union College shutout Yale 5-0 in the ECAC Semifinals to advance to the finals where the Dutchmen will face Brown, 4-0 winners over top seeded Quinnipiac earlier in the day.
Union College will meet Brown University in the ECAC Finals Saturday night in Atlantic City thanks to a 5-0 shutout win over Yale. Brown had shut out the top seed, Quinnipiac, 4-0 earlier in the day.
Wayne Simpson, Daniel Carr, Max Novak, Josh Jooris and Sam Coatta tallied goals for the Dutchmen. Troy Grosenick made 34 saves for Rick Bennett's club.
The victory helped Union move further up the rankings in the all-important Pairwise. It almost solidifies a spot in the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive season. The loss for the Bulldogs move them down in the Pairwise Rankings, but Keith Allain's team is still looking good for a berth in the national tournament. The result almost certainly ensures three ECAC teams will receive bids to the NCAA Tournament.
