Maine senior defenseman Mark Nemec signs ATO with Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL)

The Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League signed two Black Bears to amateur tryout contracts today. Mark Nemec joins fellow senior Kyle Beattie in Orlando.

Maine senior defenseman Mark Nemec signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League.

The Rouses Point, NY native redshirted his first year at Maine before playing four seasons including this one. The big defenseman is a smart, stay-at-home blue liner. He was a tri-captain of the Black Bears this season and was named a finalist for the prestigious Lowes Senior Class Award. Nemec joins Kyle Beattie who also signed an ATO with the Solar Bears. Fellow tri-captain Mike Cornell also signed an ATO today with the Florida Everblades.

The Solar Bears are the ECHL affiliate for the Minnesota Wild (NHL) and the Houston Aeros (AHL).
