The 6'6" forward leaves the Lakers after three seasons.
Lake Superior junior forward Kellen Lain has signed an NHL free agent contract with the Vancouver Canucks, giving up his final year of eligibility with the Lakers.
Lain is a 6'6" 222 lbs. power forward that is capable of playing both the wing and center positions. He scored 8 goals and 8 assists for the Lakers this season, in 32 games, missing nearly a month of the season with a nagging groin injury. We had Lain listed as the 10th best free agent prospect in the WCHA/CCHA this season.
Lain has flown to Vancouver, taking part in a brief skate and watched last night's game against the Minnesota Wild, but will more than likely spend some time in the AHL before playing in the NHL.
