A rough second half continues for the Irish
As if things hadn't been bad enough for Notre Dame's hockey team of late, head coach Jeff Jackson has a new headache to deal with. Junior defensemen Jared Beers was arrested for allegedly attacking a female bar manager who tried to kick him out of the bar late Sunday evening. According to the report the bar manager told police, Beers was taking drinks off of other customers' tables, and when told to stop, he pushed the bar manager and punched her in the face. Beers fled when police were called, but accidentally left his wallet at the bar, and was arrested when he went to claim the wallet from police.
Beers has appeared in just eight games for the Irish this season, so he's not a major piece of the Irish team, but it is another bad sign for a team that has gone just 2-7-1 since January first, and has dropped from second nationally in the polls and easily in first place in the CCHA, to just barely clinging to home ice in the CCHA playoffs and barely on the bubble for the NCAA tournament.
