The Minnesota State forward scored his second goal of the season with 44.0 seconds remaining to give the Mavericks a 2-1 win over top-ranked Minnesota. The loss snaps a 10-game unbeaten streak by the Gophers.
Minnesota State forward Brett Knowles could not find a good time to score his second goal.
The freshman buried the rebound from a Zach Palmquist shot with just 44 seconds left to give the Mavericks a 2-1 win over Minnesota Friday night at Mariucci Arena. The win snapped a ten-game unbeaten streak for the Gophers, who entered the game as the top-ranked team in the country (and #2 in the Pairwise rankings).
"I couldn't see the shot", Gopher goalie Adam Wilcox, who made 31 saves, said about Knowles' goal. "I saw it hit someone in front of me and I went down. He ended up getting the shot - it hit my pad - and went into the back of the net."
The video of Knowles' goal can be seen above and comes from C.J. Fogler (@cjzero). We'll have more about the game later tonight/tomorrow.
