Boston College head coach Jerry York has been in the news lately for his on-ice accomplishments. Now he's in the news for something off the ice.

The legendary college hockey coach, who won his record-breaking 925th game last month against Alabama-Huntsville, underwent eye surgery Thursday to repair a detached retina. According to a statement released by Boston College, York currently is comfortably resting at home and is expected to miss the Eagles' next two games.

Boston College (#1 in the PairWise rankings) plays a home-and-home series against New Hampshire (#3 in the PairWise) this weekend. Friday's game, which airs locally on NESN, is in Boston while Saturday's game shifts to Durham, New Hampshire. Although they will be without their head coach, BC will get back leading scorer Johnny Gaudreau from the World Junior Championships.

Associate head coaches Mike Cavanaugh and Greg Brown will coach the Eagles in York's place.
