We Are Exciting to Secondary Six Linkorama
The Secondary Six's Twitter fiasco moves forward. Sadly, the Twitter Egg is gone, replaced by the conference name is giant blue letters. The conference tried to move forward by posting a link to their Facebook page, which of course was actually a link to the North Dakota Hockey Facebook page.
The good news is the Secondary Six was able to become a trending topic on Twitter immediately following the announcement, thanks in most part to everyone saying, "That's seriously what they picked?" If only Twitter had existed back in the 1930's so the Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei could have said, "At least we're trending!"
The Secondary Six also started their first ever meme with the now-deleted "We are exciting to announce the formation of the NCHC." An error North Dakota sports information director Jayson Hajdu blamed on North Dakota head coach Dave Hakstol mistyping. At the very least, today's face-palming errors leave no question which school is driving the bus for the Secondary Six. The question is what direction are they heading in?
The WCHA and CCHA officially responded to today's press conference. Here is the WCHA's release, and the CCHA's release. It's probably the best they could have done considering the circumstances.
The event today was hosted by Bobby Goldwater of the Goldwater Group and Stafford Sports. Goldwater has a pretty sketchy track record to say the least.
Brad Schlossman brought up the fact that today's press conference was so short because of the hour of interviews planned afterwards. I guess I forgot how much this group struggles to do things in public and has to work behind closed doors.
So when NBC/Versus starts researching the viability of putting the Secondary Six on their network, hopefully they don't look at websites that they actually own. Not that NBC has the editorial synchronicity of Fox News, but it still doesn't look good.

When are you going to change the name of this blog? Not to the NCHCblog, but to “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” so it will accurately reflect the new direction you are going with. It’s like reading a blog by a guy talking about a girl that just dumped him.
Agreed.
This was one of the few sites offering quality content about college hockey, and it’s disapointing that it’s recently turned into one guy’s whine cellar. Let’s hope that when things settle down and we get back to playing hockey, Chris can get back to what he does best.
This site
Is easily one of the better ran sites on College Hockey. I too look forward to the day when we can go a week without some news related to shifting hockey conferences.
Chris, how about the prelim reports that JT Miller is headed to OHL. Doh …… Was hoping and praying that would not come to pass. So much for that.
Yeah
Really starting to get old Chris. I would suggest you move on. Go read Adam Wodon’s “Welcome to the Jungle” and learn something; not necessarily from his facts but his mindset. No one really can honestly say they are happy with anything that has happened conference-wise over the last year but stop the bitchy little whining would you. What is done is done.
Ditto Ditto
i gotta agree with most of the comments above. as to the twitter typos, so what. Keep in mind that the overwhelming majority of hockey fans are interested in quality play and decent programming, not whether d hakstol ever took an english class in college. And if you think the bth network is going to provide that, you haven’t watched their programming. If you did, you would have noticed that a tape delayed women’s college basketball game actually trumped a live telecast of a michigan/notre dame game last year. So any tv deal to cover the super six is going to be better than watching the bth network’s live coverage of iowa wrestling meets or purdue’s women’s team. Yes, the mich/state game will be big (in Michigan), and the MN/Wisco game will always remain a big draw; but other than that, do you really think the Penn St club team vs. Wisco is going to be aired over a women’s hoops game. over the last 4 years, miami, michigan and ND have been the winningest teams in college hockey; while traditional powerhouses like State and MN have been consistently dismal. Glitches aside, once ND leverages Western michigan into the super six, it’s going to be some great hockey; and with only 8 teams, a great opportunity for non-conference rivalries to be continued; and new rivalries to be created.

This conference sent a good percentage of college hockey into tumult for the purpose of “branding” themselves better, and so far, their “brand” has been a joke. I’d grade on a different curve if they did announce a TV deal yesterday, but they didn’t have anything other than the world’s cheapest banner.
Maybe they’ll be better in the future. I suspect they will, and will be the first to say so when they do. But in the present, it has been a pretty second-rate operation.
Agreed
I’m with Chris on this one…All I’ve heard is that the NCHC was created because Bruce McLeod sucks and the WCHA sucked at promoting itself and “branding” in the new era. To claim this is irrelevant when those are the issues is just crazy. The NCHC deserves crap for thinking it can do things better and then failing when it comes time to show they can.
