Icing Rule Dies; All Others Pass

Stay connected for news and updates

Much to the relief of many people, the NCAA announced this afternoon that a proposed rule that would not allow teams to ice the puck while shorthanded was not passed. It will still be in effect for exhibition games, but otherwise, teams are can ice the puck at will while shorthanded.

The other proposed amendments--USCHO broke them down here--all passed, which makes sense given that this last step is usually a rubber stamp. None of the new rules are anything that major though.
