Western Michigan named Indiana Ice head coach Jeff Blashill as their new head coach. Western Michigan made it clear that they were looking for someone with head coaching experience, which made Blashill the front-runner.
Some people maybe scratched their head when Blashill left his assistant coaching position at Miami to run a USHL team. I know a lot of people asked if that was an upward or lateral move. But it looks like the final verdict is that it was a great move for Blashill to earn his own head coaching job. Now he'll get a chance to help turn around a struggling Western Michigan program.
