Matt Thurber to Northern Michigan
Former Wisconsin forward Matt Thurber, who was dismissed from the team earlier this year, drew interest from a number of schools since leaving Madison, but has found a home in Marquette playing for Northern Michigan.
Thurber will sit out next season due to transfer rules. His first game game for Northern Michigan will be against his former team, the Wisconsin Badgers, to open up the 2011-2012 season.

So, let me get this straight...
Guy gets himself kicked out of Madison, and decides to resurrect his career in Marquette? Have you ever been to Marquette? What was the problem, he couldn’t get accepted at the University of Greenland?
Interesting Fact...
Recall that Northern tried to give ex-MTU druggie Phil Axtell a second chance a couple years ago, and look how long that lasted.
Maybe Thurber will straighten himself out, and maybe he won’t. Given NMU’s reputation for admitting just about anyone with a pulse, it’s tough to say.
Marquette
I have no idea why you wouldn’t like Marquette. I live in E. Lansing but I think Marquette is a great college town. It has a nice little downtown with great restaurants and bars. Also a beautiful shoreline. And access to any winter sport you can imagine, plus is Olympic training center. NMU has smart and loyal fans too. Its one of my favorite road trips!
Admitting anyone w a pulse? Is that why they made the NCAA field?
