Bowling Green has named former Miami assistant coach Chris Bergeron as their new head coach. He replaces interim head coach Dennis Williams, who, all things considered, did a pretty decent job in his one year, with a young, struggling team.
There's an interesting symmetry here between this hire and Western Michigan hiring Jeff Blashill. Both Western Michigan and Bowling Green are MAC schools that play in the CCHA, and both hired former assistants from Miami, another MAC school, that has built itself into a national power. It definitely makes sense for those schools to get coaches from a team that built itself up without relying on well-known recruits. It should hopefully make the CCHA more competitive top to bottom.
