Rivals Top Ten Recruits

College Hockey 24/7 released their first recruiting rankings today with the Top Ten Recruits for 2010.

It's interesting to see what the general consensus is. Derek Forbort came out as tops on the list. When I was making my list, I had Forbort in the top spot for a long time, and ended up putting someone else ahead of him, but he's definitely a solid choice. Out of the top ten guys, I didn't have any of them lower than 18th on my list.

The Top 50 for next year comes out later in the week, and that should be really interesting. Just trying to put this thing together, there were a lot of guys I thought would be top 50 that ended up not making the cut once I got all the names on there. It should generate a lot of interesting discussion.

List

Seems like that list is a tad too heavy on NTDP guys and guys that are heading into the next draft. Which makes me think some of the voters are limited in their exposure to some players. I know the NTDP has some good players but something tells me that some of these 18 year old kids on that list from that program won’t have the impact as some of their older freshman counterparts from other avenues.

NTDP

You MUST be from Minnesota. :) Too heavy on NTDP players? The NTDP takes the best US kids in every birth year. Yes, they miss a few each year and some of the kids don’t develop as expected, but this list should be at least 75% NTDP kids every year. They are the best kids in the US.

No Seth Ambroz in the top 10 – he is projected as a top 5 NHL draft pick in 2011 and he isn’t even top 10 for the college… very odd. Zucker should be 1; kid played great at World Jouniors.

DU's Recruiting Class

DU with two players in the Top #7.

Beau Bennett is tearing up the BCHL this year. His numbers are similar to what Tyler Bozak did in his final season in the BCHL. Bennett is two years younger than Bozak was at the time.

Bennett may just end up being the Top incoming recruit when its all said and done.

DU Class of 2010

Four years ago Rakhshani and Ruegsegger made an initial impact at DU. Zucker and Bennett will have some big skates to fill.

How could they leave off Jimmy Mullin, the best player on the best prep team in the country. He’s lighting it up at SSM and inked his letter to go to Miami next season. That kid will be a stud.
