Miami's Weber Suffers Neck Laceration

Miami cruised to an easy 9-1 win tonight over conference opponent Northern Michigan, but had to endure a very scary situation in the first period when junior defenseman Will Weber was inadvertently cut by an opposing player's skate blade.

According to Miami's sports information department, Weber suffered the cut from his chin to his ear, though thankfully, it seems as though the skate caught mostly muscle. Weber was immediately transported to a local Oxford hospital, before being transferred to a hospital in Cincinnati where he underwent surgery to repair some of the damage. As of Saturday evening, Weber was reportedly awake, alert, and in stable condition. He's expected to be hospitalized for at least a few days while recovering, though it sounds as though there shouldn't be any long-term damage.
