Paluch Out at Bowling Green
Bowling Green head coach Scott Paluch has resigned at Bowling Green, according to College Hockey News, to become a regional manager of USA Hockey's new American Development Model. Assistant coach Dennis Williams will act as interim head coach for the next season.
A lot of Bowling Green fans were ready to see Paluch go, but with BGSU's financial problems, it was unlikely they could afford to buy him out. This allows him to leave, and Bowling Green gets to keep a cheap alternative as head coach. That said, it's a bit troubling that Bowling Green immediately hired an assistant in an interim role, rather than going through a real coaching search. That's a move that doesn't seem to show a ton of commitment to the future of their program.

On the other hand, while the team’s status is still up in the air what kind of applicant pool would they have gotten if they did a full search? I don’t think a little bit of stability in the coaching is a bad idea while they try to get the rest of the situation worked out. It’s going to be hard enough to find two new assistant coaches right now.
