Analysis:
The Coyotes take a chance on the Swedish defenseman that was a huge riser in this year's draft. The Coyotes said they definitely wanted their pick to wait at least a year before signing, and Ekman-Larsson will definitely play another year in Sweden. But the Coyotes really needed a premier defenseman for the future and Ekman-Larsson has the potential to be that defenseman some day.
