A New Pioneer for Women’s Hockey? Drafted 199th overall in USHL.

Seventeen year old female goaltender Alex Rigsby, formerly of the Milwaukee Junior Admirals, and the United States Women’s Under 18 program, has been drafted in the fourth round, 199th overall in the United States Hockey League entry draft.

As hockey fans may remember, the first and only woman to play competitively in the NHL, albeit in an exhibition game, was Manon Rheaume who played two pre-season games in goal for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1992 and 1993.

Is Alex Rigsby going to join Manon Rheaume as women who have played in the NHL?

Drew picked this up and I was kind of surprised that we haven't really heard of any woman making a splash since Rheaume did it back in 1992.
