The Story of Brendan Burke

ESPN's John Buccigross tells the story of Brendan Burke, who is the son of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke, a student manager for the Miami hockey team, and openly gay . A very interesting story, and some nice publicity for the RedHawks.

Hopefully I don't mess this link up. Neate Sager has his take on the story, saying that the RedHawks, not Brian Burke, are the real story. Neate is one of the best sportswriters out there today.

The genesis of the Buccigross article ...

Former UAA Seawolves player Justin Bourne did a piece for USA Today a couplathree weeks ago about hockey cultures lack of acceptance for gays … Brendan Burke wrote him an email thanking him for the article … They exchanged emails and it progressed …
