Knelsen to Play for Team Canada

Alaska sophomore-to-be Dion Knelsen will be joining Team Canada's U18 team for the World Championships in Finland. The entire team should be announced tomorrow. It is an incredible honor for Knelsen, as few players that play outside of Canada get chosen. He is only the fourth player to play for the team after playing a year of college hockey. It should also help him in the this summer's draft, as this tournament is highly scouted, and draft stock can rise and fall greatly based on a player's performance against the best of his peer group.

It is very nice to see that a talented player like Knelsen will still have the opportunity to represent his country despite not choosing to play major junior hockey.
