So it looks like this story has a happy ending since the RoadRunners will get to finish out their season, but ultimately, the writing is on the wall. I will be shocked if they're playing hockey in Santa Fe at this time next year, and really, given the support that the team has gotten in the community, they probably shouldn't be.
